Mission

The FieldKit Mission

We provide environmental monitoring tools, training, and collaborative opportunities, so that you can protect what matters most.

FieldKit is a not-for-profit working to democratize access to scientifically-relevant environmental data by developing affordable, reliable, open-source sensor technology, providing hands-on training and workshops, and fostering a global knowledge-sharing network. By equipping local communities, scientists, and conservationists with accessible tools and scientific insights, we strengthen collaboration, enhance environmental monitoring, drive innovation, and enable data-driven action that creates real impact.

Our Vision

FieldKit envisions a world where accessible environmental monitoring delivers abundant, granular, and scientifically-relevant open data to empower effective environmental action.

Our Theory of Change

Climate change, pollution, and ecosystem degradation affect nearly every living being on Earth. Yet despite mounting ecological, social, and economic threats, we still lack the high-quality environmental data needed to understand, anticipate, and respond to these challenges. This global data gap is driven by a sensing technology landscape that remains financially and technically constrained — failing to evolve to meet the urgent needs of a world in crisis. Effective environmental sensing involves more than having the right tools for the job. Data works better together, and FieldKit is dedicated to supporting a strong community, all working to better understand and advocate for the world around them.
