Field-Tested, Field-Proven

FieldKit thrives on project-based collaborations, and our team is equipped with the skills, expertise, and passion needed for successful partnerships. We work diligently with you to build a shared vision of the collaborative environmental monitoring project you’re looking for and the means to achieve that vision: from tech to workflow to deployment to data analysis.

Amazon River Basin

For years, FieldKit has collaborated on community-based monitoring across the Amazon River Basin, placing water chemistry and weather stations throughout Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru. These stations are positioned within indigenous communities, with data collected by local monitors and shared with regional universities. The result builds toward a more comprehensive picture of one of Earth’s most critical watersheds, combining technology with traditional ecological knowledge to support scientific research and community-led conservation.

Bashakill Wetlands

As part of a FieldSchool pilot program collaborating with local nonprofits, we installed a monitoring station over a bridge in the Bashakill wetland. Our sensors track temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and water level to reveal how seasonal changes affect aquatic ecosystems—showing how temperature influences oxygen levels, how dissolved oxygen impacts species like trout, and how water fluctuations relate to flood dynamics. This configuration serves as a model for watershed-scale monitoring throughout the region.

FloodNet NYC

FieldKit developed a customized data portal for FloodNet, connecting hundreds of flood sensors across New York City’s five boroughs to real-time dashboards. The system provides minute-by-minute flood readings, overlaying sensor locations with comparative precipitation and tide data. Residents, researchers, and city agencies can view and share hyper-local flooding data through mobile interfaces. This community-centered approach enables data-driven emergency responses and grassroots advocacy for urban resilience.

Dja Reserve, Cameroon

FieldKit’s longest-running project collaboration is in the Dja Faunal Reserve in Cameroon, where we have worked with UCLA’s Congo Basin Institute to install and grow a series of FieldKit weather stations and LoRa radio infrastructure across the unique microclimates of the Reserve’s inselbergs. This partnership allows local researchers to better study the forest and its wildlife.
